Once upon a time ... Francisco Cardoso Lima and his brother Fernando, together with a group of friends, founded a Club for classic cars enthusiasts. The idea took shape in 1965, in Porto, with the formation of the Classic Car Club of Porto. The idea was met with great excitement throughout the country, and in May 1967 the Club changed its name to the Portuguese Club for Vintage Cars (CPAA). The Club began collecting and restoring old vehicles as well as organising national and international competitions. In 1970 the Club became a member of the FIVA and organised the FIVA International Rally in 1972-1977-1982-1994 and 2001. In order to display its vast automobile heritage, the CPAA organised the first exhibition of vintage cars at the Crystal Palace in Porto in 1971, which was visited by over 100,000 people.
